Double A (AA) grade Herkimer Diamonds are water-clear, double-terminated quartz crystals as the photos/photographs show. With 18 natural facets, a high quality "AA" grade Herkimer crystal is flawless to the naked eye. This grade of gem is rare in any size over ½ of an inch. With a hardness of 7-7.5 out of a possible 10, it's an excellent choice for earrings or other jewelry. They are actually more rare than a real diamond!
