This sweet Herkimer Diamond has the perfect traditional shape of a floater. A double terminated crystal is quartz that is naturally terminated on both ends (pointed). These crystals most likely formed in soft muddy or sandy conditions, and didn't attach to the matrix rock like other crystals do, they are called floaters. Doubly terminated crystals are very rare.
This Herkimer Diamond was shy to photograph, it's a beauty in person.
