A sweet perfect Herkimer quartz crystal with a gumball shape.
The name "Herkimer Diamond" originated when the original Dutch colonists in this NY area found these beautiful crystals and mistook them for diamonds. They were actually used as currency for a short time. Although Herkimer Diamonds are actually quartz crystal, they are more rare than a real diamond. They are the only variation of quartz that grew naturally water clear with 18 facets and double termination points around Herkimer County, NY.
