Beautiful rainbows scatter throughout this double terminated quartz crystal. The top picture above captures color. Rainbows occur when light reflects through the healed fractures. A healed fracture occurs during the crystal's formation. Something caused a crack, or hesitation in growth. As the crystal continues to grow, the fracture is encased within the gem stone, thus 'healing' it. Those interested in the metaphysical consider them powerful healers because of their ability to have healed themselves.
Iron oxide is present on the surface. It gives the Herkimer golden healer properties.
There are some external matrix growth marks and it is just double terminated. Anthraxolite is present near one tip as well.
A good example of a double terminated quartz crystal with many self healed fractures. |
