| Notes: |
This is a high quality double terminated quartz crystal. It's excellent clarity is due to the fact that internally, nothing is going on, really unusual for a Herkimer of this size.
Externally, it's quite interesting. One flat facet shows a dried enhydro (see center photos). An enhydro is a fluid filled bubble within the quartz. Other facets are pocked with smooth dips where these enhyro's were, but have popped, or exploded outward. This is caused by the pressure from freezing and thawing of the water trapped inside.
Both termination's are sharp and facet lines are crisp. Many facets are clean and smooth.
There is a rich deep hue to this exceptional double terminated quartz crystal. |
