It's a generously sized Herkimer quartz crystal with very good clarity.
The healed fractures give it a crackly look, like an ice cube. A healed fracture occurs during the crystal's formation. Something caused a crack, or hesitation in growth. As the quartz crystal continued to grow, the fracture was encased within the gem stone, thus 'healing' it. Those interested in the metaphysical consider them powerful healers because of their ability to have healed themselves. They are also called 'self-healed' crystals. These clear inclusions add sparks of color veils throughout. Some were captured in the image above.
Also internal is a pocket with iron oxide. Most likely at one time this area held water. It can be seen in the top picture.
Externally, 75% of the the Herkimer has clean smooth lines and facets. Both terminations are complete.
If it's rainbows you are looking for, this is the Herkimer quartz crystal for you!
