| Notes: |
A spectacular Herkimer Diamond! It is a
generous size for a Herkimer complete with all facets, or faces, and
both termination points. The termination's are a bit unusual, as they
are both chisel tips. This type of termination is defined by a flat
edge rather than a 'point'. Two of the pictures, one above and one
below show the chisel tips at a good advantage.
Ninety-eight percent of the faces are smooth and clean. A touch of
external anthraxolite matrix can be found on a couple of facets.
The many completely internal inclusions are great to examine. Some
of the inclusions are healed fractures while others look like tin
foil. One looks like a lily pad. The light reflected by these inclusions
causes prisms, or rainbows.
Tip: View your Herkimer's from different angles and in different lighting
conditions to get the full extent of the rainbows in your crystal.
Sometimes it seems the mood of the crystal will reflect the rainbows
it is willing to show.
A couple of the pictures of this Herkimer Diamond caught some prism
color.
The smooth faces make this crystal a joy to hold. |
