This is a high quality C grade Herkimer Diamond. It has the look and feel of an ice cube. Fantastic rainbows strike through-out the crystal.
While technically double terminated and complete, neither points are perfect. It's the great clarity of this gem that will draw someone.
The external blemishes are present because the vug this crystal grew in was not big enough to accommodate the crystal. In the case of Herkimer Diamonds, the rock is dolomite. A very hard limestone. An external growth mark shows itself by the crystal bearing the contact mark of the host stone it grew in.
The internal inclusions, or growth occurrences are translucent and awesome. It is a must for looking at through a loupe!
It is a great C grade Herkimer Diamond, that I believe would have been a twin crystal had it the room to complete it's growth.
