Points & pieces compose many of the pictures of these D grade Herkimer Diamond quartz crystals. Other minerals will be found attached to D grade stones as well. These could include dolomite (the matrix rock surrounding the pockets), calcite and anthraxolite. Herkimer Diamonds grew in pockets, or vugs very quickly and are dated at 500 million years old. These vugs formed as water seeped through the sea floor and dissolved the rock in the sea bed, creating the pockets for the quartz and minerals to form. They have the distinction of being the only double terminated quartz crystal.

Our D grade Herkimer crystals are sold in groups or by weight. Some are only shy of C Grade status because of a slight marring on one of the points. Use them for tumblers or practicing on lapidary equipment. Of course, no matter the grade, Herkimer Diamonds are always useful with metaphysical pursuits.
