Points & pieces compose most of the D grade Herkimer quartz crystals for sale. Some are only shy of C Grade status because of a marring on one of the points. Use pieces for tumblers or practicing with lapidary equipment. Of course, no matter the grade, Herkimer Diamonds are always useful in metaphysical pursuits.

Herkimer Diamonds formed in pockets, or vug's in dolomite. It is believed these vug's were created by ancient sea cabbages that fossilized into anthraxolite. As the ancient sea bed compressed it became dolomite, a hardened limestone. Other minerals that might be found attached to D grade stones are dolomite (the matrix rock), calcite and/or anthraxolite.

D grade Herkimer quartz crystals are mainly sold by weight. The lot sizes include generous 2 oz. (1/8 lb.), 4 oz. (¼ lb.), and 8 oz. (½ lb.) bags. You will also find extra large Herkimer's for sale on this page. Usually, the larger a quartz crystal, the more growth occurrences and/or blemished it will be. So, even though some of the extra large D grade Herkimer's are double terminated, they will be externally marred, sending it to D grade status. Most of these extra large quartz crystals have large smooth facets and feel wonderful to hold. Images will be included on the description pages of these crystals.
