| Notes: |
This is an extraordinary cluster of Herkimer Diamonds. The large
parent crystal has a generous 7" girth. One side of the crystal
has some large facets and smooth areas. A bridge crystal is located
on the center facet. While not well defined, it is double terminated
and measures 11.5x7.5 mm.
The golden areas (seen in some of the pictures) are due to a thin
layer of iron trapped in the crystal of this unhealed fracture.
Some refer to this as a 'Golden Healer'. Deep rainbows glitter in
this area, as well as many other facets on this side of this large
Herkimer Diamond. External blemishes are also present.
Turning the Herkimer diamond over exposes a unique cluster of crystals.
The cluster extends inward, very unusual. Usually a cluster will
grow out from a larger crystal. Could be just the way it broke apart
during earth changes, but it's really cool none the less. This inward
cluster consists of a conglomerate of 4-5 Herkimer Diamond points.
Some must be bridge crystals, but it's hard to tell. In 10 years
of mining it is the first cluster I have come across like this.
This side is about half and half, smooth facets and blemished facets.
Overall the parent Herkimer Diamond is all but double terminated
and measures a whopping 3¼" and fits nicely in the palm.
Taking into consideration the many healed fractures, cluster and
golden area, it seems destined to be a healer's crystal.
