A great shape, large 2" size and rainbows mark this Herkimer
Diamond crystal.
I refer to the unusual shape of this crystal as a 'Superman'. It
is a pentagon, or 5 sided shape. When this crystal grew, the termination
points grew into the surrounding matrix. In this case one side grew
into dolomite and the other anthraxolite. (See the 2 top and 2 bottom
pictures. The side with anthraxolite is pictured on the right.).
The outside edges of the stone grew unhampered, resulting in it's
rare shape. All outside edges of this stone are intact.
The many internal inclusions make this Herkimer Diamond glimmer
with rainbows. Some of the rainbows look like oil slicks, others
have a pastel glow.
A remarkable crystal and fits nicely in the palm of a hand. The
pictures do not do it justice.
