One Crystal Pictured

Length: 2¾"
Width: 2"
Depth: 2"
Weight: 98 grams
Notes: A very large double terminated D grade Herkimer Diamond. I love the long narrow and smooth facets that wrap completely around the 7" girth of the crystal. The above pictures show this well.
One side of the Herkimer has a large wavy, but smooth area. This was caused from the large anthraxolite crystal that grew against it. Some of the black anthraxolite still remains (see bottom picture).
The other side of the Herkimer Diamond has a crater. This was caused from what was originally an enhydro in the crystal (see crystal below). Enhyrdo means "water within". Some crystals contain pockets of liquid, trapped inside the crystal during its formation. In this case, the enhydro exploded during the many years it made its way to the earths crust.
Rainbows spark brightly from many of the facets. The rainbows do not show in the pictures, but view your Herkimer Diamond from different angles and in different lighting conditions to get the full extent of the rainbows.
