Notes: A perfect Herkimer Diamond crystal specimen! A thin piece of dolomite matrix is sprinkled with gray sparkling drusy crystals.
Setting grandly atop of the host rock is a double terminated crystal that measures a generous 24x17x16 mm. The points are clean and all facets but one are smooth. An 8 mm crystal point grew from one of the facets near the base.
This conspicuous Herkimer makes a great backdrop for three additional Herkimer Diamonds on the matrix piece. One double terminated and a cluster of two single points with sizes ranging from 6-10 mm.
The entire Herkimer Diamond matrix specimen sets well to display the crystals to a good advantage.

At times Herkimer Diamond crystals or specimens are broken or damaged during the mining process. The pieces are then glued back together with epoxy and sold.
While we believe this a completely acceptable measure, we will always make you aware of any Herkimer crystals or matrix specimens that have been reconstructed by marking them 'reconditioned' on the description pages.
