This lot of Herkimer crystal points set on tiny fragments of dolomite rock. Dolomite, a type of limestone is the host rock, sometimes referred to as matrix, where Herkimer gemstones formed. Sizes and descriptions as follows: Refer to the proper images, 1 & 2.
Image 1 pictures 5 crystals with sharp tips.
- The largest in this image measures 16x12x10 mm. With clean lines and facets it has good clarity and pastel rainbows. Three window facets are present as well.
- Pictured to the left of the largest is a 12x8.5x5.25 mm gem with excellent clarity and a tabby shape.
- The smoky crystal, far left, has good clarity and measures 8.5x5.5x4.5 mm.
- To the right of the largest stone is a 7x5.25x4.25 mm Herkimer with excellent clarity.
- The smallest tip in image 1 measures 6.75x4 mm.
Image 2 shows 6 crystal tips, also all well defined.
- The largest gem in this group measures 15.5x15.5x14 mm. It has an odd shape and many bright rainbows.
- To the right of the large stone is an 11x5x4.5 mm clear tip with a long thin shape.
- Measuring 9x6x4.75 mm, the golden colored Herkimer Diamond has a nice shape and excellent clarity.
- To the far right in the image is a 7x5.25x4.25 mm tip with excellent clarity.
- To the far left set the smallest Herkimer points. One is a 7.5x4x4 mm with fair clarity.
- The other has excellent clarity and measures 6.5x4x4 mm.
The dolomite rock attached to these tips is very minimal as can be seen in the images. Many of the Herkimer crystal points in this lot are surrounded by smaller crystal tips. They are a real treat when viewed with a loupe. A great collection for gifting or the micro crystal collector. |
