Notes:

When anthraxolite is present mainly inside a Herkimer quartz crystal, the result is a black diamond. Sizes and descriptions of these crystals:

  • Pictures above, the diamond measures 7.75x4.25x3.5 mm. The photos look like the facet faces are more mottled than they are. Most of them are smooth and complete. Two baby diamonds are attached. The pictures don't do it justice.
  • The picture below shows the 14.25x7.5x6 mm black diamond. Almost all of the anthraxolite is suspended inside the crystal. The crystal is 99% flawless externally. It's great clarity is lost in the reflections of the anthraxolite in the pictures.

The anthraxolite inside the gems is encased in crystal. Use a loupe to really appreciate these black diamonds.
