One quartz crystal specimen

Notes: WOW! What can be said about this almost perfect large and water clear Herkimer Diamond. It is a quality specimen of clear quartz crystal. Amazingly, it came out of a rather small vug in a hard dolomite boulder. It comes from the Ace mine in Herkimer County.
A phantom crystals lays just under the surface of one smooth facet. Phantom crystals are recognized by what appears to be the shadow of a crystal inside a larger crystal.
With a loupe, an area of tiny bubbles floats like a flat cloud. Other bizarre inclusions are seen as well. Since they are clear or translucent they only appear from certain angles.
Externally, this Herkimer Diamond is eye clean. Double termination's, facet lines and faces are smooth and crisp. With a 10x loupe, 97% of it is still clean.
This is a phenomenally large water clear Herkimer Diamond. The phantom crystal is icing on the cake.
