At almost 2", this is a large double terminated Herkimer Diamond quartz crystal. Both termination points, or tips, are sharp and complete.
Rainbows abound near one tip! Several large smooth facets sparkle with pastel color veils. Can't believe they wouldn't photograph.
Clarity at this termination and about 2/3rd's of the stone, is good.
The other termination tip is cloudy, but sharp. Some matrix is present here as well as a small bridge crystal and key mark, neither very well defined.
Additionally, this Herkimer quartz crystal was charged in the 2017 total solar eclipse. August 21, 2017 saw a once in a lifetime event for many of us in the United States. A total solar eclipse crossing, from coast to coast - Just Our Country. While we, in southeastern Pa. were only in the path of 77% totality we were not going to miss it. So, from 1-5 pm we hung outside; soaking in the unusual light and sharing our viewing lens' with neighbors. We took some pictures, and in general enjoyed the sense of Something Special with millions of other Americans. We also thought it would be interesting to place a tray of our Herkimer Diamonds out to soak up the unusual light and energy. Since Herkimers, in general, are believed to amplify the energy of most metaphysical pursuits, charging them during an 'almost' total eclipse could only be an added bonus, right? The pictures of them in the light of this awesome day, show, to us, they enjoyed the event as much as we did : )
This large Herkimer Diamond quartz crystal is wonderful to look at. And with it's many complete smooth facets, feels great to hold.
