This double terminated Herkimer Diamond crystal is a bit unusual. It has 2 different tips; one is a chisel tip, the other a sharp point. A common termination point occurs when six faces (or facets) of quartz join together to form a point. An alternate is when the facets come together with a flat edge. This is not as common, and referred to as a chisel tip. Overall excellent clarity, especially at the sharp termination. Bubbly inclusions in the center sparkle sporatic colors. Some external markings present. Particularly a cool circular divot. Another clear divot was probably caused from a water bubble popping. It's a great specimen of a double terminated Herkimer Diamond crystal. |
