WOW ! This is a huge sharply double terminated Herkimer Diamond crystal. And if that weren't enough, it was charged outside during the 2017 Solar Eclipse.
August 21, 2017 saw a once in a lifetime event for many of us in the United States. A total solar eclipse crossing, from coast to coast - Only Our Country. While we, in southeastern Pa. were only in the path of 77% totality we were not going to miss it. So, from 1-5 pm we hung outside; soaking in the unusual light and sharing our viewing lens' with neighbors. We took some pictures and in general enjoyed the sense of Something Special with millions of other Americans. We also thought it would be interesting to place a tray of our Herkimer Diamonds out to soak up the unusual light and energy. Since Herkimers, in general, are believed to amplify the energy of most metaphysical pursuits, charging them during an 'almost' total eclipse could only be an added bonus, right? The pictures of them in the light of this awesome event show they enjoyed the day as much as we did.
This Herkimer Diamond has other interesting attributes as well.
Areas of excellent clarity combine with clear growth occurrences spark rainbows from many of the clean, smooth & large facets (faces).
Dolomite crystals, also called Dog's tooth crystals grew as well and show in several of the pictures below.
