One inch may seem small, but it's actually large for a double terminated Herkimer quartz crystal. While all quartz crystals are metaphysical, Herkimers are highly regarded for their double termination points, or tips. A termination tip occurs when six faces (or facets) join together to form a point. When this occurs on both ends, the crystal is double terminated. While a single termination is quite common, naturally double terminated quartz is not. They have the ability to receive or transmit energy from both ends. They are also reputed to amplify the energy of other stones when used for crystal healing.
Looking closely at this Herk, you'll notice an extra tip at one termination. This is a twin crystal. It's seen best in the top picture. A twin is recognized as two individual crystals growing side by side to the extent that they have merged together. This one has almost completely merged. Metaphysically they are used to promote loving contact, help find our soul-mate and promote togetherness.
Additionally, this quartz crystal has a light coating of iron oxide, making it a golden healer. Crystal healers believe in their ability to aide in healing both the spiritual and physical.
Internally this Herkimer has wispy inclusions and sparkles pastel rainbows.
Externally, many faces are clean and smooth. A dolomite matrix mark is present and clearly seen in the pictures below. Also a large key mark is present as well as specks of black hydrocarbon.
This large metaphysical quartz crystal has a special feel.
